Stress less, stay healthy, and have more fun!
You’ve done it!
You’ve made it through the winter months, and now the sun is peeking through the trees at you.
It’s glorious. And spring break is the answer to your prayers. Don’t worry, we’re right there with you!
The cold and I, we have a love-hate relationship.
I love how magically snow glistens, but I hate spending half an hour trying to get those chunks of ice off my windshield wipers. I love wearing cozy sweaters and cute boots, and I hate freezing my tuchus off the second a door is opened.
But those days are gone!
Spring break is all about relaxing, unwinding, laying on the beach (or at a lake), and feeling the warmth on your skin. It’s the pep talk we all need to hang in there until summer.
Spring Break With Your Family
Spring break can look different for each of us. Perhaps you’re heading to the beach, or maybe you’re heading to a water park or even staying in your area.
Whatever it looks like for you, the important part is being together as a family.
I’m all about any chance to make new memories with my husband and kids. Life is short, and sometimes it feels like it’s a lot of work and not as much play as I want.
So to have the opportunity to get away from our routine… I’m all in.
Whether you’re 15 minutes from your home or an 8-hour flight away, you must have these travel essentials!
They’ll save you in a pinch and can even save your sanity… trust me.
What Should I Pack for Spring Break?
Dreaming of morning hikes? Afternoons on the beach? Game nights with your family?
Before you jump on a plane (or in the car), you can’t forget to pack these 6 must-haves!
1. Essential Oil Rollers
I call these my ‘Spring Survivor Roller Blends’ because they are my lifesavers! I NEVER travel without them.
Immune Support Roller — One of the kids catching something? Feeling rundown? Give their immune system the support it needs with a little rub on the bottom of their feet.
Joint Support Roller — Experiencing aches and pains? Road trips and tiny airplane seats will do that to you! Just apply this to the affected areas and let the magic happen. You’ll be ready to go in no time.
Tummy Support Roller — An upset tummy is a common theme when we’re on the road, and this roller has saved us more than once. Simply massage into skin and soothe those tummy aches.
Head Support Roller — Headaches are the worst when traveling, hands down. I can’t function through a bad headache and nothing works as fast as this blend. It’s quick, natural, and keeps my headache gone.
2. Sun Protective Clothing
You’ll find most advice regarding sun protection saying this — avoid the sun as much as possible.
It’s hard to not roll your eyes at this, especially if you’re heading somewhere SUNNY! It’s what most of us want for spring break! Some vitamin D.
But it’s all about balance. If you’re not a fan of sunscreen, try having your kids wear protective clothing between the hours of 10 am - 4 pm. Encourage them to wear a hat or sun visor.
Nothing ruins a vacation like a sunburn on you or one of your kiddos.
3. Elderberry Gummies
With traveling comes germs and a higher risk of catching something. Our elderberry gummies are the perfect immune support for wherever you go. They deliver a deliciously sweet daily health booster for the entire family.
With 120 mg of elderberry per serving, organic ingredients, Vitamin C, and zinc — it’ll be hard for anything to slow down your vacay fun!
4. Travel-sized Activities
Little ones have busy hands and minds. When they’re bored, here come the tantrums and fits. Can you say every parent’s nightmare?!
The key is to keep them busy. Some of our favorite travel-sized activities are:
- Spot It
- Mad Libs
- Interactive books
- Magnetic License Plate Game
- Scavenger hunt card games
- Take N Play Anywhere Bingo
- Boogie Board Reusable Writing Tablet
- Busy board sensory toys
- Travel spirograph
5. Herbal Healing Salve
I refuse to even leave the house without this herbal healing salve, let alone go on a vacation without it.
It’s all-natural and works miracles on anything and everything. From bug bites and bee stings, to rashes and skin irritation.
This rich moisturizing ointment soothes skin, encourages healing, and comforts my little ones. Doesn’t get much better than that!
6. Healthy Snacks
I have tried and failed so many times at getting my family to eat healthy while on vacation.
After a lot of trial and error, I realized that planning ahead was the missing link for me. You can’t just intend to eat well, then wing it. That’s when you end up with pizza, chips, and junk food.
And if your kids are anything like mine… they go haywire when they’re hopped up on all that processed food.
Here are a few of my favorite travel snacks. I prepare them ahead of time for something quick and nutritious on the go:
- Popcorn
- Fresh fruit & veggies
- Single-serve cups of guac & hummus
- Elderberry Energy Balls
- Variety of nuts
- Pumpkin Muffins with Elderberry Glaze
Tips for Traveling With Kids
Traveling with your kids can be a beautiful, eye-opening experience for both you and them. It can expose them to new cultures, foods, experiences, and family memories.
But traveling with your kids can also feel overwhelming and daunting, am I right?
Unpredictable bumps in the road, routine changes, cranky kids… yikes. It might feel safer to stay home.
But hold on!
Here are a few tips that will help you enjoy your vacation together!
1. Give yourself some wiggle room.
Plan for extra time. Extra bathroom stops, an emergency change of clothes, meltdowns… you name it. If you give yourself that extra time, then you won’t feel so stressed when things come up. Because let’s be real, when you’re traveling with kids… things will come up!
2. Accept that some things will go wrong.
Even if you were on vacay without your kids, something will not go as planned. That’s just life! If you accept that ahead of time, your joy won’t disappear the second something unexpected changes things around.
3. Snacks, snacks, and even more snacks.
Expect your kids to be hungry — like all of the time. The second you start driving… “I’m hungry!” Ten minutes after lunch… “I’m still hungry.” Nothing makes a child bottomless like doing something outside of their normal routine. But you won’t be so frustrated if you’re prepared.
4. Be flexible!
Nothing makes a family vacation stink more than mom or dad being upset the entire time. Frustrated, frazzled, and irritated. But this vacation will be over before you know it, so no regrets. Remind yourself to go with the flow, to make every moment count, to smile often, and laugh until your belly hurts. Those are the moments you and your children will never forget!
My number one priority while traveling is keeping everyone healthy! That’s why our Elderberry Gummies are perfect for any busy family.
