Now, let’s jump into the steps you’ll follow to create this flavorsome dish.
Let’s Get Cooking
Now that you have all your ingredients, you’re ready to cook this savory meal. Let’s get started.
-
Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ and lightly grease a 9x14 inch baking dish with avocado oil.
-
Make the Sauce: Whisk together the sriracha sauce, honey, coconut aminos, vinegar, lime juice and garlic in a bowl.
-
Season and Sear the Chicken: Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried basil, dried thyme and paprika over the chicken breasts. Then, in a skillet, heat the avocado oil and put the chicken in it. Cook for two minutes on each side.
-
Bake the Chicken: Place the chicken in the baking dish and pour the honey sriracha sauce over top. Flip the chicken so you can coat both sides in the sauce. Now, cover the pan with foil and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for 15 more minutes — ensuring the chicken reads 165℉ with a meat thermometer.
-
Spoon the Sauce: Once it’s completely finished cooking, take the chicken out. Spoon about five tablespoons of the sauce from the pan and mix it with the cornstarch in a bowl. This will thicken the sauce. Now you can pour it back over the chicken and bake for an extra two minutes.
-
Garnish and Serve: You can add a garnish of sesame seeds and/or cilantro to top it off or serve it as is.
As your chicken bakes, your house will get filled with the aroma of the magic that happens when sweet and spice mingle. Get ready to bask even more once you pull this baked chicken out of the oven — you’ll want to start eating it ASAP.
Great Sides to Complete Your Meal
Want to pair this chicken with a side or two? Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of ideas for you — they aren’t complicated either. These sides will definitely round out your meal!
-
Rice: Serve this chicken over rice — personally, it’s one of my favorite sides to go with this recipe. I prefer using jasmine rice — it pairs nicely with the rich flavors of the chicken.
-
Veggies: You can steam or roast any veggies you wish — broccoli, green beans and cauliflower are great options.
-
Quinoa: I love quinoa because it can go with pretty much anything. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a grain that isn’t rice or simply prefer quinoa.
-
Salad: Make a salad with any veggies, greens and dressings you like. You can eat it on the side or cut up the chicken and put it over the salad.
-
Potatoes: French fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes… there are many ways to cook potatoes, plus they make a tasty side dish for almost any meal.
You really can’t go wrong with any of these sides — they all pair wonderfully with the honey sriracha chicken.
How to Store for Later
This baked chicken is super easy to store for later. All you have to do is put it in a glass storage container and keep it in the fridge — it’ll keep for about three to four days.
After refrigerating, you can heat it in your oven at 375℉, in a skillet on medium heat or microwave it.
I love using these leftovers for a quick and easy lunch. My go-to’s are usually mixing it with a salad, throwing some in a tortilla to make a taco or just eating it by itself. It’s just as delicious, whatever way you decide to eat it.
