Maple Cinnamon Baked Apples With Crumb Topping: You're Going to Love This Fall Favorite

This baked apples recipe is made with real foods and is so simple to whip up.

Hey hey! 🍂 Is it just me, or does fall make you want to cozy up in the kitchen and bake all the things? I swear, as soon as that cooler weather hits, I’m ready to dive into all those warm, comforting flavors: cinnamon, maple syrup and everything in between.

But, let’s be honest, who has time for anything too complicated? Between school drop-offs, after-school activities and trying to keep up with the laundry (seriously, where does it all come from?), I need something quick and easy.

By the way — just in case we haven’t met yet — I’m Lindsey, the founder and owner of Elderberry Queen. Most importantly, I’m a wife and mom of five boys. Life is busy around here, so I totally understand getting back into the school and sports groove. It’s not easy.

That’s why I’m obsessed with these Maple Cinnamon Baked Apples. They’re the perfect treat to whip up when you want something sweet but don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen. Plus, they make the house smell amazing with just a few minutes of prep time.

This recipe is a winner. Whether you’re looking for a cozy breakfast, a simple dessert or just a little something to make your day feel special. Trust me, you’re going to love it!

A Healthy Fall Staple

Let’s talk about why this recipe is a total game-changer for fall. When the weather cools down, it’s tempting to dive into all those rich, sugary treats — but this baked apple recipe gives you the best of both worlds. This baked apples recipe has all the warm, cozy flavors we crave this time of year, but with a healthy twist.

Apples are a fall staple for a reason — they’re packed with fiber, vitamins and antioxidants that are great for you and the kiddos. Add in the oats, and you’re getting a good dose of whole grains to keep everyone full and satisfied. Instead of loading up on sugar, we’re using maple syrup, which gives just the right amount of natural sweetness.

These baked apples are perfect when you want something that feels indulgent but is actually nourishing. Whether you’re serving them up for breakfast, a snack or dessert, you’ll know you’re treating your family to something good and delicious. It’s healthy comfort food at its best — and really, isn’t that what fall is all about?

The Nourishing Power of These Ingredients

Let’s look deeper at the power behind each ingredient I’ve chosen for this recipe.

Apples: We all know the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” and for good reason! Apples are loaded with fiber, which is great for digestion. They’re also packed with vitamins like C and A. Plus, they’re a natural source of antioxidants, which help keep your body healthy and strong as the weather gets cooler.

Cinnamon: This spice adds more than just that warm, cozy flavor we all love. Cinnamon is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling and support overall health. It’s also great for stabilizing blood sugar levels, making it a perfect addition to a naturally sweet treat like this.

Oats: Oats are a fantastic source of whole grains and are super filling, which means they help keep those little tummies satisfied longer. They’re also fiber-rich, particularly beta-glucan, which is known to support heart health by lowering cholesterol levels.

Maple Sugar & Raw Honey: These natural sweeteners are a healthier alternative to refined sugar. Maple sugar gives you the same benefits but in a granulated form, perfect for adding sweetness to your crumble. Raw Honey contains antioxidants and minerals like zinc and manganese, which support immune function — something we can all use a little extra during the fall months.

Almond Flour: Almond flour is a great gluten-free option high in protein, healthy fats and vitamin E. It’s also lower in carbs than traditional flour, making it a great choice if you want to keep things light and nourishing. Plus, the nutty flavor pairs perfectly with the apples and cinnamon.

Butter: It adds a rich, creamy texture to the crumble, making it even more indulgent. It also helps the oats crisp up beautifully in the oven, giving you that perfect golden-brown topping we all love.

So indulge in this warm, comforting dish, knowing that it’s good for your body!

Maple Cinnamon Baked Apples With Oat Crumble Recipe

Here’s what you need for this delicious and hearty recipe:

  • 4 medium apples (I prefer Honeycrisp)
  • Cinnamon for sprinkling + 1 teaspoon for crumble
  • 1 cup of old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup of almond flour
  • ⅓ cup maple sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of melted butter
  • Raw Honey for drizzling

That’s it! Simple, wholesome ingredients that come together to make something truly special. Now that we’ve got everything ready, let’s get baking!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Now that we’ve got all our ingredients ready, let’s get these delicious baked apples in the oven. Don’t worry, this recipe is super simple — you’ll have it down in no time!

  • Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F. This way, it’ll be nice and hot when you’re ready to pop those apples in.

  • Prep the Apples: Take your 4 medium apples (I’m all about Honeycrisp for this recipe, but use whatever you love), and give them a good rinse. Then, carefully slice the top off and core each apple, leaving the bottom and sides intact — you want a nice little well to hold all that yummy filling. If you need to, you can slice a bit more off the top to widen the opening.

  • Make the Crumble: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of old-fashioned oats, ½ cup of almond flour, ⅓ cup of maple sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Pour in the 4 tablespoons of melted butter and stir until the mixture is well coated and crumbly.

  • Fill the Apples: Take your prepared apples and spoon the oat crumble mixture into each one, packing it in as much as possible. Don’t be shy — really fill them up! If you have any extra crumble, you can sprinkle it on top.

  • Bake: Place the filled apples in a baking dish, and if you’re feeling extra fancy, drizzle a little Raw Honey over the top of each one. Pop the dish into your preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. Your kitchen is going to smell amazing!

  • Serve and Enjoy: After baking, let the apples cool for a few minutes before serving. These are delicious on their own, but you can also top them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of yogurt if you’re having them for breakfast. Yum!
  • That’s it! You’ve just made a cozy, comforting fall treat that’s as easy as delicious.
