Fight Off Fall Fatigue With These 5 Natural Methods: Stay Energized & Enjoy the Season

fatigue

Tips on boosting your energy levels naturally so you can really savor every moment this fall — without the fatigue.

As the leaves start to turn and the air takes on that crisp, refreshing bite, we feel fall’s undeniable magic. It's the season for cozy sweaters, pumpkin everything and quiet moments that make you want to slow down and soak it all in.

But as much as I love this time of year, I’ve noticed that it's easy to start feeling a little more tired than usual with the shorter days and cooler temperatures. Fatigue starts creeping in, making you feel downright sluggish.

Maybe you’ve felt it too — the struggle to keep your energy up as the daylight dwindles. It’s like our bodies want to hibernate right along with the bears. But if you’re like me, you don’t have time to be tired. There’s just too much to manage as a mom and wife.

Instead of giving in to the fatigue, I’ve found that a few simple, natural tweaks to my routine have made all the difference. I’m excited to share those with you!

Let’s look at my five favorite natural tips and tricks to fight off that autumn sluggishness and help you stay vibrant all season long.

1. Prioritize Quality Sleep

If you’re like me, you crave more rest. But sometimes, even if you spend extra hours in bed, you still wake up feeling groggy and worn out. The secret to beating fall fatigue lies in the quality of your sleep, not just the quantity.

  • Establish a Consistent Sleep Schedule: Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. Consistency is key!
  • Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine: Unwind with activities that help your mind and body relax before bed. This could be anything from reading a book, taking a warm bath or sipping a cup of calming chamomile tea. Grab some of our Lavender Magnesium Balm to rub on your feet and relax your body.
  • Optimize Your Sleep Environment: Your bedroom should be a sanctuary for rest. Keep it cool, dark and quiet. Use blackout curtains, a white noise machine or a sleep mask.
  • Watch What You Eat and Drink: Avoid caffeine and heavy meals in the evening, as they can disrupt your sleep. Instead, opt for a light snack or a soothing drink like our Golden Tea or Calming Chamomile to help you relax and drift off peacefully.

By prioritizing quality sleep, you’ll wake up feeling more energized and ready to tackle your day, even as the seasons change. I promise! Alright, onto yummy, nourishing foods.

2. Nourish Your Body With Seasonal Foods

Fall is the perfect time to turn to nature’s harvest for nourishment. Seasonal foods are fresh, flavorful and packed with nutrients your body needs to stay energized. Not to mention, fall foods are absolutely delicious!

  • Load Up on Root Vegetables: Fall is the season of root vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, beets and squash. These hearty veggies are rich in complex carbohydrates, fiber and essential vitamins like A and C. They provide a steady release of energy, keeping you full and fueled throughout your day.
  • Embrace Dark, Leafy Greens: Kale, spinach and Swiss chard are at their peak during the fall months. These greens are powerhouses of nutrients, offering iron, magnesium and antioxidants that help fight off fatigue and support overall health. Add them to soups and stews or sauté them as a side dish.
  • Enjoy Seasonal Fruits: Apples, pears and pomegranates are just a few fruits that ripen in the fall. Pomegranates are my absolute favorite! These fruits are delicious and packed with vitamins, fiber and natural sugars that can give you a quick energy boost without the crash.
  • Incorporate Warming Spices: Cinnamon, ginger and turmeric add flavor to your dishes and offer numerous health benefits. These spices can help boost your metabolism, improve circulation and reduce inflammation, all contributing to sustained energy levels.
  • Don’t Forget Healthy Fats: Get your healthy fats with foods like nuts, seeds and avocados. These fats help keep you satisfied and provide a slow-burning source of energy. They also support brain health, which is crucial when you’re feeling mentally drained. Goodbye, brain fog!

By nourishing your body with these seasonal, nutrient-dense foods, you’ll find your energy levels remain stable. It really does make a difference.

In the same way we need nourishing foods for stable energy, moving and exercising can provide an even bigger energy boost.

3. Get Moving: Embrace Outdoor Activities

The fresh air and natural light can do wonders for your energy levels. Do what feels right for you, whether it’s walking, hiking or even raking leaves. Just get moving!

Boost Your Endorphins: When you exercise, your body releases endorphins. Those feel-good hormones elevate your mood and increase your energy. Even a brisk walk in the crisp fall air can have you feeling more alert and refreshed.

Improve Circulation: Outdoor activities like hiking or raking leaves get your heart pumping and improve circulation. This delivers more oxygen to your muscles and brain.

A Perfect Pairing: Imagine starting your day by walking through the colorful fall landscape, followed by a warm cup of our Golden Tea. This delightful combination offers both mental clarity and physical warmth, setting the tone for a wonderful day!

So, lace up your walking shoes, head outside and let the effects of nature and movement energize you. But make sure to bring your water bottle with you — hydration is just as essential.

4. Stay Hydrated With Herbal Infusions

While reaching for another cup of coffee might be tempting, herbal infusions offer a nourishing alternative that keeps you hydrated and revitalized without the caffeine crash.

Hydration and Energy: Dehydration is a common cause of fatigue. It’s easy to forget to drink enough water during the cooler months. Herbal teas, such as our Calming Chamomile or Immunity Infusion, provide a delicious way to boost your water intake while offering various health benefits.

Nutrient-Packed: Herbal infusions are hydrating and packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. These nutrients support your overall health, help your body fight off fatigue, and keep your immune system strong as the seasons change.

Warmth and Comfort: There’s something incredibly comforting about holding a warm mug of herbal tea on a chilly fall day. Organic teas provide both hydration and a moment of relaxation.

So, swap out that second or third cup of coffee for a soothing herbal infusion. Shop our organic loose-leaf teas here.

Teas can also help relieve stress and fill your body with a sense of ease, which is essential for fighting fall fatigue.

5. Manage Stress Naturally

Stress can be a major energy suck! So make sure you’re properly managing the stress coming your way.

Mindful Practices: Practice meditation, prayer, deep breathing or yoga — it can help calm your mind and reduce stress levels. Even just a few minutes of deep breathing or a quick prayer with God can make a big difference in how you feel.

Aromatherapy: Essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus or our Head Support Essential Oil Roller can be powerful tools for stress relief. A few deep breaths of calming lavender or a quick application of one of our rollers can instantly soothe your senses and help you relax.

Nature’s Remedies: Embrace the power of nature with herbs and natural supplements known for their stress-reducing properties, such as organic elderberry syrup. Elderberry is renowned for its immune-boosting benefits, but it also helps support your body’s stress response, promoting balance and calm.

Unplug and Unwind: In today’s digital age, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by constant connectivity. Take time to unplug from technology. Reading a book, spending time in nature or enjoying a hobby can impact your quality of life.

These simple practices, including organic elderberry syrup, can help you keep stress in check and feel good.
